ICYMI: Fairyland turns 75 Monday

This Weekend: a Labor Day parade, a freaky circus, and Treasure Island does country

Good news — It’s a long weekend in Oakland.

There’s a lot going on this weekend, but I know one thing you probably won’t be doing… eating at Oakland’s newest Michelin Star, Sun Moon Studio.

Why? No rezys in sight. Chefs Alan Hsu and Sarah Cooper opened the West Oakland restaurant last summer in a converted “artists studio” — earning their Michelin star in June this year.

The bad news: Reservations for the $180 tasting menu are booked out 6 weeks in advance. But you can always check out the only other Michelin starred Oakland restaurant, Commis.

In this week’s issue:

- Happy Labor Day!
