OOO: Fourth in the Bay
Issue #007 | The best celebrations in the bay from Alameda to the Peninsula
Oaktown Weekly | Issue #007
It’s Fourth of July Eve, which means we’re t-minus 8 hours of keyboard dancing before we pop top and put some char on a ballpark weenie like a true American. Or, join one of the many protests — we’re here for both.
It also means, that we’ve got a special edition of Oaktown lined up just for you. This week, we’ve gathered the best Fourth activities across the Bay.
See ya outside.
Your Holiday Lineup
1. Alameda’s 4th of July Parade & USS Hornet BBQ
When: Friday, July 4
Where: Alameda (parade) + USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum
The longest Independence Day parade in the country steps off in Alameda, rolling deep with classic cars, color guards, dance crews, and hometown pride. After that? Head to the USS Hornet for flight deck views, BBQ, games, and a flyover. See details →
2. Mare Island Drone Sky Show & Festival
When: Friday, July 4 5:30-9:30pm
Where: Mare Island Waterfront, Vallejo
Starts with magicians and face paint. Ends with 400 drones lighting up the sky over the bay. A summer carnival with food trucks, live entertainment, and drones — what more could you want? Details here →
3. worldOne Festival in El Cerrito
When: Friday, July 4 11am-5pm
Where: Cerrito Vista Park, El Cerrito
A vibrant daytime celebration packed with local vendors, food stalls, artisan wares, and live global music. Less about fireworks, more about what you discover between the tamale stand and the classic car show. See details →
4. Pardee Home Museum BBQ + Art
When: Friday, July 4 12-4pm
Where: Pardee Home Museum, 672 11th St., Oakland
A Victorian-era home opens its garden for a community BBQ and live tunes by Fredrick Hodges on the piano. It's intimate, eccentric, and has strong Oakland energy. Bonus: tour the museum's artifacts after dessert. Tickets here →
5. Oakland Municipal Band at the Lake
When: Friday, July 4 1-3pm
Where: Edoff Memorial Bandstand, Lakeside Park, Lake Merritt
It’s the 114th year, and they haven’t missed a beat. Timeless standards, old-time swing, maybe a Sousa march or two. Bring a lawn chair, a snack, and a soft spot for community tradition. Details here →
That’s it this week.
Happy Fourth y’all,
-Kolby
