The Farm Turns 70
Issue #006 | Berkeley's oldest farm, Pier 70 gets buzzed, and rolling skating
Oaktown Weekly | Issue #006
Get pumped for the last weekend in June, which means… SF Pride.
The nation’s largest Pride Parade (probably, right?), SF Pride Parade is set to return to Market St. this Sunday (6/29) for the 55th time. So, if you’re planning on driving into the city this weekend, try getting cozy on Bart.
But SF isn’t having all the fun this weekend. Here’s a look at this week’s issue:
Your Weekend Lineup
Each week, we bring you a curated list of events for families, couples, and everyone in-between. Got an event you’d like to promote? Send us a reply.
1. Little Farm in Tilden Turns 70!

When: Sunday (6/30) 10am - 1pm
Where: Tilden Regional Park
I don’t know what’s harder to believe, this little farm’s been kicking for SEVEN decades, or that the ducks haven’t unionized yet. It is Berkeley. Either way, this is sure fire hit with kids shorter than a goat. See Details →
2. Oakland Roots FC vs. Monterey Bay FC at the Coliseum

The Roots pictured at the smaller Laney College field.
When: Saturday (6/28) at 7pm
Where: Oakland Coliseum
The Coliseum is staying busy. Few weeks ago it was professional cricket, this weekend it’s soccer. Come see Oakland Roots FC take on Monterey Bay FC Saturday night. Tickets here →
3. Earth, Wind, and Fire set to serenade the Greek
When: Friday (6/27) 8pm Show
Where: Berkeley Greek Theater
We’re still a ways out from the 21st of September, but this weekend you’ll get your chance to dance like it’s the end of summer. While many of the original members are no longer with us (RIP), Verdine White is still holding it down. See tickets →
4. Liberation Park is Rolling - Every Saturday this Summer
When: Every Saturday, 3-6pm
Where: Liberation Park, 7101 Foothill Blvd. (Corner of MacArthur/Foothill/73rd Ave)
It’s summer. The skaters are out. Someone brought a boombox. You already know the vibes. Join the crew every Saturday (weather permitting) at the Umoja outdoor skating rink in Liberation Park. See details →
5. Jack London Farmer’s Market - Every Sunday

When: Every Sunday, 11am - 4pm
Where: Jack London Waterfront
Listen you don’t need to convince me to go to a Farmer’s Market. I’m an addict. But through in the waterfront vibes, the oldest bar in all of Oakland, and the best consignment store in the East Bay, you’ve got a Sunday.
Let us know what you thought of this issues events? Something you wished we would have shared? Send a reply with your thoughts.

If it’s not clocking to you, that this swimmer is standing on business, get caught up.
That’s a wrap. Go get some sun this weekend.
See you out there,
