The folks at Oakland United are commandeering the floating time capsule that is the USS Potomac for an evening of craft brews and bay views. 2025 California Coastal Clean-Up Day

Nobody like a trashy beach, so do your part and come on out this Saturday for California state’s annual Coastal Clean-Up Day. Hosted by the California Coastal Commission, the event will feature organized clean up parties at the following Bay Area beaches: Ocean Beach, Muir Beach, Crissy Field East Beach, and Fort Mason. Blues Brews & BBQ Festival @ Washington Park

Not to be confused with the July’s Brews & Blues Festival, the Blues, Brews, & BBQ festival makes it’s 8th showing this Sunday at Alameda’s Washington Park. 27th Annual Piedmont Harvest Festival

The lineup of activities to this event could not be more Piedmont-y. Watermelon eating contest, jazz performances, cider pressings, local art show, carnival games, and a scarecrow alley. • Denser housing is coming to a BART station near you — SB79, which is now on Newsom’s desk, will allow the construction of higher density housing near transit hubs. Only a few counties in CA qualify — yes, Alameda is one of them.

• Berkeley hit-and-run attempt leaves 3 hospitalized — Scary Tuesday morning in Berkeley’s Elmwood neighborhood when a driver rampaged and left 3 injured. The driver was arrested and is being held on attempted murder charges.

• New Oakland bottle shop opens on Telegraph — Good Times Oakland took over the old Tannery Bend Brewing location on Telegraph Ave. in August. The owners are launching a “light” food service today (9/18).
